Foundation Announces Applications Available for Student Loans


The Cadillac Area Community Foundation, through the Helen and Harvey Pell Fund for Education, will be providing low-interest Student Loans to Eligible Students who are attending or planning to attend a educational institution resulting in a post-high-school-degree or certificate. Up to $8,841 will be available for Student Loans this year.

The term “Eligible Student” refers to legal residents of the Wexford-Missakee ISD area, who have graduated from high school or obtained a GED, or individuals who have graduated from a high school within the designated area regardless of their current legal residences.
Any Eligible Student may submit an Application for a student loan from this Fund.The loan will be awarded to the Applicant based on their demonstrated financial need, evidence of academic ability to commence and complete the selected course of study, and evidence of good character. The loan shall apply to one year’s tuition and/or other educational expenses at an accredited college or university. Students may re-apply each year for additional student loans as long as they have met the conditions of the first student loan, and remain a student in good standing.

The deadline to return the completed loan application to the Foundation offices is June 30, 2006. The Student Loan Advisory Committee will meet in July to make their recommendations. In the past, loan sizes have ranged from $1,100 up to $5,000 per student.

Request for HEYS Grant Applications through July 31, 2006

The Cadillac Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now available for the Health and Education for Youth and Seniors (HEYS) Grant Program. The Foundation established the Health & Education Fund for Youth & Seniors in 1999 as a permanently endowed fund from which grants are awarded annually, subject to the recommendations of the Advisory Committee for this Fund and the final approval of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation.

A total amount of $1,261 is available to award for eligible projects and/or programs of nonprofit organizations, schools, or local units of government that impact youth (ages 0 - 17) and seniors (65+) within Wexford and/or Missaukee Counties. Grants will be awarded to provide funding for either new programs, or existing programs that can demonstrate successful outcomes. Recipients of services from projects/programs funded through these grants are limited to residents of Wexford and/or Missaukee Counties ONLY.

Grant applications will be accepted through July 31, 2006. We invite qualified non-profit organizations within Wexford and/or Missaukee Counties to contact our offices, at 231-775-9911, to discuss their grant proposals.  A grant application can be downloaded here.

 

Request for Trustee Grant Applications through March 31, 2006

The Cadillac Area Community Foundation is accepting grant applications through March 31, 2006 for the Trustee Grant Program.  Under the Trustee Grant Program, the Foundation accepts grant applications and awards grants twice during the calendar year.  All non-profit organizations and agencies that serve the citizens of the City of Cadillac and its four surrounding townships are eligible to apply. The Cadillac Area Community Foundation, through the Helen and Harvey Pell Fund for Education, will be providing low-interest Student Loans to eligible students attending an accredited two or four year college or university offering post high school degrees.

Eligible applicants are those who have graduated from high school OR obtained a GED and are a resident of the Cadillac area, or a graduate from Cadillac High School. A Cadillac Area resident is defined as a resident who lives within the CAPS district (the City of Cadillac, Cherry Grove Township, Boon Township, Selma Township, and Haring Township).

The loan will be awarded to the Applicant based on their demonstrated financial need, evidence of academic ability to commence and complete the selected course of study, and evidence of good character. Request for Youth Grant Applications

The Cadillac & Kellogg for Youth Committee of the Cadillac Area Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for the Youth Grant Program.  Youth grant applications are accepted throughout the year except during the months of June, July, and August.  Non-profit organizations and agencies that serve youth ages 0 - 18 within the City of Cadillac and its four surrounding townships are invited to apply.
